Team Members
"My greatest joy is letting individuals know that there is hope, whether it is financial, or a word of encouragement or letting a person know that they are not alone. Crisis Assistance Ministry provides a safe, relaxed environment for people in need to have a voice, to release what they are holding onto - anger, frustration or anxiety." -Regina Smith, staff
"I love seeing the smile on the faces of the people I help. It is so rewarding when someone leaves my office knowing that their family will be safe." -Robin Springs, staff
"I have a heart for helping people, and volunteering at Crisis Assistance Ministry is a way of expressing that. I wasn't raised around poverty, and the only thing I knew about being poor was what I read in the paper or heard on the news. By volunteering, I get to experience one of the objectives of founder Caroline Myers, which was to bring volunteers into the work of the agency and bring people face to face with poverty." -Carol Remley, volunteer
"I have really enjoyed my volunteer experience and would strongly recommend this agency to anyone who is interested in making a difference in people's lives." -Ed Terry, volunteer
"You are so amazing, getting, folding and giving all of those clothes. Without anything for yourself, except a smile. That kind of payment is the best." -A 4th grade student at Providence Day School (read more letters from 4th graders here)

Awards
Charity Navigator, a leading independent nonprofit watchdog group, has awarded Crisis Assistance Ministry a three-star rating, the result of operating expenses that are roughly 6%. The agency is also a three-time recipient of Charity Navigator's highest (four-star) rating. Click here to see Charity Navigator's evaluation of the agency.
Best of Charlotte In 2006, Crisis Assistance Ministry was chosen by Creative Loafing Magazine's "Best of Charlotte 2006" as the Best Local Charity. Here's what they had to say:
"Charlotte has so many good charities (Urban Ministry Center, the Shelter for Battered Women, etc.) that this was a hard winner to choose. But we ended up going with Crisis Assistance Ministry, whose volunteers and paid staff do the Lord's work on a daily basis. Simply put, they keep the babies fed, the old people warm and the rent paid for thousands of struggling people. The organization is efficient, too: Charity Navigator, an independent charity evaluator, gives the ministry its highest rating of four stars."
Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Award In 2005, the agency received the high honor of being chosen as one of two local organizations to receive the Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Award. This program helps nonprofits across the Bank of America franchise with operating support and leadership training. Here's what they had to say:
"At Bank of America, we believe the efforts of Crisis Assistance Ministry are truly a testament to your commitment to making Charlotte be the best it can be. We are thrilled to present you with the Neighborhood Builder award and look forward to sharing your accomplishments with the community."
