It’s the time of year when kids are celebrating the end of school and the freedom of summer. But, for many families, this annual milestone brings more stress. Parents struggle with how to keep their children safe and busy while they are off hard at work.
Fortunately, Noel has found the perfect solution for his son, Aidan. Wayfinders, a nonprofit organization previously known as the Bruce Irons Camp Fund, is sponsoring his trip to overnight camp in the North Carolina mountains. It’s a relief for the hardworking father.
Still, the list of camp supplies is long, and the family’s finances aren’t going to stretch to accommodate everything he needs. But there’s a solution for that too. Thanks to the generosity of our community, the father-son duo are able to visit Crisis Assistance Ministry’s Free Store. There, the two are able to shop free-of-charge for most of the items on Aidan’s shopping list.
Fourth-grader Aidan is a bit shy at first, but soon opens up and shares his excitement about camp. He has older and younger siblings, but none that are his age. So, Aidan is looking forward to playing with kids his age at camp. Because it is his first trip to Camp Celo, he isn’t sure what activities to expect. His father, Noel, hopes his son gains new experiences, makes new friends, and gets to enjoy the great outdoors.
As the two work their way through the store, Noel helps his son try on shirt after shirt. Soon, he picks up a green Under Armor hoodie that is just right. Aidan loves it so much that he refuses to take it off despite the warm temperatures of the day. His goofy smile is priceless as he continues to shop for pants, socks, towels, and other camp essentials.
As a Dad, Noel is grateful for the help getting Aidan ready for his summer adventures. He can’t wait to hear about all the fun his son will have on his trip. And Aidan can’t wait to run around with his new camp friends. He hopes there will be plenty of soccer games.
Thank you for making this summer dream possible for Aidan and his father – just in time for Father’s Day.
