Amy’s Giving Tuesday Update

A year ago, we shared Amy's story of homelessness and housing instability after she fled domestic violence. Thanks to your support, she was better prepared when COVID-19 hit for the hardships that came along with the pandemic. This #GivingTuesday, help us ensure that 50 families like Amy’s remain stably housed.

“I would never have imagined over a year later where we would be.”

Amy

At one point, Amy and her family were living out of their car and struggling to stay afloat. Thanks to donations from people like you, she is stably housed today and her family is thriving.

GIVE HOME

A year ago, we shared Amy’s story of homelessness and housing instability after she fled domestic violence. Support from donors like you helped Amy and her family remain housed and plan for the future.

The financial coaching and counseling she received at Crisis Assistance Ministry meant she was better prepared when COVID-19 hit for the hardships that came along with the pandemic.

This year, Amy completed the Community Business Academy program and was so successful that she is in talks to teach there in the future. Her son Aaron was admitted to a military boarding school and has earned straight A’s along with the distinction of being 1 of only 8 students selected for the President’s List. Her daughter is also doing well in college and has her own car.

“We are fighting to maintain resilience. Currently, we are working our family business, AnderBerry Bracelets, to prosper towards upward mobility, and also contributed to a podcast called The Tenants Toolkit, shedding light on the Charlotte housing crisis.”

Amy

This #GivingTuesday, with your help, we can ensure that 50 families remain stably housed with heat and running water.
