Nearly 800 Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) leaders recently participated in a week of service, named CMS Cares, giving back to the community while also learning more about the agencies and organizations that serve their students and families daily.
CMS employees who volunteered at Crisis Assistance Ministry brought amazing energy and smiling faces throughout the week. As educators, they are intimately acquainted with this unsettling statistic: 42% of those benefiting from Crisis Assistance Ministry services are children under 18.
Thanks to their hard work inspecting, hanging, and stocking items in the Free Store, more families will be able to shop free-of-charge for clothing, shoes, household items —and even school uniforms! Volunteers make it possible, every day, for the store to be fully stocked and organized, allowing customers to shop with dignity and select the items they need.
Thank you, CMS, for giving back to Mecklenburg County students and their families this week and throughout the year!
