Hope For This Grandmother

Meet a grandmother who received your gift of hope and help when she needed it most. Her modest monthly check, which had previously barely covered her regular expenses, couldn’t stretch to meet the increased food and utility costs.

Smiling grandmother

Meet a grandmother who received your gift of hope and help when she needed it most.

We need your support to help more families in need as 2021 comes to a close.

One of the families helped by gifts like yours was a grandmother already living on a fixed Social Security income when suddenly she had sole responsibility for two grandchildren, ages 7 and 9. Her modest monthly check, which had previously barely covered her regular expenses, couldn’t stretch to meet the increased food and utility costs. After ensuring the children had what they needed to be comfortable in their new home, this grandmother was distraught when she realized there wasn’t enough money left to pay the rent.

Fortunately, her distress turned to relief after a discussion with a caseworker. Donors like you helped provide a check directly to her landlord — bringing her up-to-date on rent and ensuring that this newly-formed family didn’t have to worry about eviction.

The result:  Relief. Peace. Joy.

Give Hope, Warm, & Light

The caseworker also provided connections to a food pantry and to our Free Store for clothing and household essentials free-of-charge – both of which will help this grandmother ensure next month’s check covers the bills.

The final result:  Hope.

This holiday season, you can provide the most vital of gifts – the gift of home. Your support provides help to neighbors in need and creates hope for a better future.

Give Hope, Warm, & Light
