April 29, 2022

You could be that friend to offer help and hope during a trying time. With your help, people like Mary find that support through Economic Mobility specialists like Crisis Assistance Ministry staffer Randee.

Randee had the pleasure of working one on one with Mary during her time in the Economic Mobility program.

They met after she received some help with her rent to keep her family stably housed. Randee says, “When I first met Mary I knew she was special. She spoke to me on a deeper level. You could tell that she was not only concerned with paying her bills and taking care of her children but wants to make a difference in the world.”

Give Now & Double Your Impact

Her parents were frugal and never had to worry about money but that meant that they never talked to Mary about healthy financial habits. After her accident hampered her ability to work, she did everything she could to stretch her fixed income and find new revenue sources.

Working in partnership with Randee, Mary continued to reduce expenses and make her money work harder for her and her family.

I don’t use the word broke. My finances are malnourished right now. My money is on a vacation but it will be back.

Mary

Next, Randee and Mary worked on strategies to build her savings and move toward homeownership.

At the core of the Economic Mobility program is being able to talk to someone person-to-person about your relationship to money and the barriers keeping you from achieving stability. That is the special sauce that sets it apart from other financial resources.

Caring community members like you have the unique opportunity to offer help during the initial financial crisis and to extend hope through vital life-changing resources like the Economic Mobility program. All with a gift before our Challenge comes to a close at midnight on April 30.

Give Now & Double Your Impact

Right now, you can team up with the Merancas Foundation to provide basic needs for those in crisis and empower them to achieve self-sufficiency by joining the Challenge.

All donations up to $500,000 will be matched by the Merancas Foundation to amplify your gifts.

Working together, your gift before April 30th will double your impact and help more neighbors overcome their financial crisis and regain financial stability.

Some families are forced to turn down raises or reduce hours — not because they lack ambition, but because the numbers don’t work.🤔 #FamilyFinance #EconomicReality #BenefitsCliff

Every day, 75 families shop at no cost for clothing and household goods at our free store. While many of us think nothing of a shopping trip for new clothes, for our neighbors with limited incomes, shopping at no cost turns what could be a financial burden into a fresh start!

Flat tire? Trip to urgent care? Things happen. For many of our neighbors however, when that thing happens, something in their budget has to give. That's where Crisis Assistance Ministry gives hope. We provide emergency financial assistance for rent and utility costs when a family faces financial crisis.
