Imagine what it feels like for a mom to wonder if her children will have a place to call home tomorrow.
Picture a father’s unimaginably difficult choices when the rent is due, the power bill is lagging, and children need clothes to start school.
For too many in our community, these scenarios are all too real.
That was the case for Sierra who found herself at wit’s end trying to provide for herself and her two daughters after a divorce changed everything—especially their financial situation. Despite working two jobs and moving to lower-cost housing, things still weren’t adding up. Finally, she turned to the community for help.
Working with a Crisis Assistance Ministry partner agency, Pineville Neighbors Place, Sierra found emergency assistance to avoid eviction and was then connected to ongoing one-on-one coaching to stabilize her family, one step at a time, for the long haul. Today, she is meeting her financial goals and making time to teach her girls important lessons about money.
“It really makes a difference having someone who believes in you and empowers you to keep going,” she says. “I know I don’t have to go back to the place I was before. Thank you.”
