With some of the largest companies in America headquartered in the Charlotte Region, it is no surprise that local businesses enhance Crisis Assistance Ministry’s ability to serve Mecklenburg County. From thousands of volunteer hours to clothing and household good donations to sizeable financial gifts, Charlotte companies provide critical support to Crisis Assistance Ministry operations.
Over the years, hundreds of local businesses have coordinated donation drives for clothing and household items needed to stock our Free Store. Most days of the year, you can find groups from local companies volunteering to inspect material goods donations and stock the Free Store at Crisis Assistance Ministry. In fact, the collective volunteer efforts of the Charlotte business community add up to thousands of work hours every year at no cost. That’s priceless.

Beyond volunteers and donated goods, local companies contribute critical financial support. In 2024, businesses and corporations donated $855,000 to Crisis Assistance Ministry, providing emergency financial relief to 1,263 neighbors.
Since 1975, Crisis Assistance Ministry has been a lifeline for Mecklenburg County neighbors –providing stability services to support the most basic needs—rent, utilities, clothing, and household essentials. Corporate volunteers are a critical multiplier that extends services further, making it possible for thousands of neighbors to find help, hope, and understanding here each month.
Spotlight on Bank of America
In honor of our 50th anniversary, we dug through our old photos and couldn’t help but notice one local company that keeps appearing. Maybe they are less camera-shy than other companies, but Bank of America volunteers have shown up year after year. In fact, between 1997 and 2023, Bank of America employees volunteered more than 8,000 hours!
