Crisis Assistance Ministry is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Sharp as Chief Housing Stability Officer (CHSO). Sharp brings more than 19 years of senior leadership experience across the nonprofit and higher education sectors to this critical executive role.

As CHSO, Sharp will lead the agency’s Housing Stability Services division, overseeing emergency financial assistance and financial empowerment coaching—core services that stabilize housing and support families as they move toward increased financial security.
Since stepping into the role on an interim basis in September 2025, Sharp has focused on strengthening operational systems, supporting staff, and advancing data-informed, people-centered service delivery that prioritizes dignity and measurable outcomes.
Sharp is the President and Founder of Sharp Advising, where he supports nonprofit organizations in strategy, operations, and leadership effectiveness. Previously, he served six years as Chief Operating Officer at RunningWorks, helping build the organizational infrastructure supporting housing stability and poverty alleviation. His career also includes 11 years at Johnson & Wales University, where he was honored with the Outstanding Service Award.
Sharp holds an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University, where he received the Alumni Distinguished Service Award. He also holds the Nonprofit Essentials Certification from Wake Forest University, is a graduate of Leadership Charlotte Class 36, and is a Certified Interim Executive.
“Matt brings a rare combination of strategic vision, operational discipline, and deep commitment to people,” said Carol Hardison, CEO of Crisis Assistance Ministry. “His leadership strengthens our ability to respond to the growing challenge of housing instability while delivering services with dignity and impact.”
“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue this work alongside such a dedicated team,” said Sharp. “Crisis Assistance Ministry plays a vital role in the health of our community, and I look forward to strengthening our capacity to serve neighbors in crisis.”
