Furniture Bank needs furniture, volunteers
The community's Furniture Bank is experiencing record demand for new and gently used furniture of all kinds, especially:
- Mattresses and box springs, which will be sanitized and given to families in need
- Sofas, couches, living room/den chairs
- Tables and chairs suitable for dining, doing homework, etc.
- Dressers and chests of drawers
Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday at 333 Dalton Avenue, near uptown Charlotte, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Limited pickup service is available for large donations or for group drives by contacting the Furniture Bank directly at email@example.com or by calling 704.371.3001.
Ever wanted to be a personal shopper?
Crisis Assistance Ministry looking for thoughtful, compassionate individuals to help families select furniture at the Furniture Bank. Morning, afternoon, or daily shifts are available weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. No heavy lifting is required, just a smile and a heart for serving for families in need. Training provided. If you are interested in this opportunity, contact Susan Neal or sign up for a volunteer information session.
The Crisis Assistance Ministry Free Store accepts donations of new and gently used clothing, linens, blankets, and household goods. Your generosity means more than 100 families a day can find essentials free-of-charge. Donations can be dropped off at 500A Spratt Street between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday. Critical needs include:
- New underwear and socks
- Large size women's and men's clothes
- Children's clothing suitable for school uniforms (khaki, navy pants/skirts, solid color polo shirts)
- Men's shoes
- Belts, purses, backpacks
