Our <a href=\"https:\/\/crisisassistance.org\/partner-agencies\/\">network of partner agencies<\/a> extends our services into neighborhoods throughout Charlotte-Mecklenburg.<\/p>\n<p>Even families whose income is twice the Federal Poverty Level struggle to afford safe housing, reliable transportation, child care, utilities, food, and other necessities.\u00a0An unexpected event such as an illness or job loss can send an accomplished person into a downward financial spiral.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/volunteer.crisisassistance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" itemprop=\"url\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crisisassistance.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Washington-DC-Advocacy-768x576.jpg\" alt=\"Washington-DC-Advocacy\" itemprop=\"image\" title=\"Washington-DC-Advocacy\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t<h1>More than 100,000 of our neighbors live in poverty.\u202f<\/h1>\n\t<h2>Empowering Advocates<\/h2>\n<p>Our Customer Advocate initiative engages and empowers the community to be advocates for people struggling with limited financial resources by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increasing awareness of the complex issues that make it challenging for some neighbors to make ends meet<\/li>\n<li>Encouraging community dialogue and participation in removing barriers to financial security<\/li>\n<li>Changing attitudes and policies that create barriers to economic mobility<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The most powerful advocates are customers themselves.
