Aramark volunteers recently stepped up to provide brand new laundry and hygiene kits along with fleece blankets for neighbors who shop at Crisis Assistance Ministry for essentials.
The project was made possible by a grant, secured by Aramark, from the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities and the Council on Accreditation. Grant support went directly to purchasing items for volunteer projects throughout this fall.
First up, funds were used to purchase full-sized hygiene items, sheets, quilts, towels, washcloths, soap detergent, and no-sew fleece blankets kits. During their Building Community Day, Aramark volunteers quickly got to work assembling these basics into laundry kits, hygiene kits, and blankets.
Thanks to their forward-thinking pursuit of grant funds and these hard-working volunteers, more families will find these essentials when they shop free of charge at Crisis Assistance Ministry’s Free Store.
Plans are in the works for other Aramark teams to purchase and build furniture items for the Furniture & Appliance Store, along with more kits for Free Store shoppers. As a result, more Mecklenburg County residents will be able to live with dignity while redirecting their limited funds towards basics like rent and utilities.
Opportunities for work teams, social groups, church circles, and even schools to volunteer are always available on our volunteer portal or by contacting our volunteer team.
