How You Can Make a Difference This Giving Tuesday

At Crisis Assistance Ministry, we embrace this day with open arms and invite you to join us as we celebrate 10 years of #GivingTuesdayCLT, a local, community-wide celebration led by Share Charlotte that involves hundreds of local nonprofits and thousands of caring Charlotte-Mecklenburg residents like you.

November 26, 2023

Each year, on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, the world comes together to do one simple thing.

Give.

Giving is a chain reaction that not only helps other people, but it ripples through a community and strengthens us all. That’s why a movement began over a decade ago to create a Global Day of Giving: Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday follows the rush of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It is just one day when we are all asked to pause, reflect, and contribute to causes that matter.

The Impact of Your Contributions

Giving Tuesday is not just about monetary donations. It is about the power to Give Good. It’s about the power of community and the impact of collective action. This year, Crisis Assistance Ministry is focusing Giving Tuesday on material donations that can directly improve the lives of those we support.

From essential clothing to household items, your contributions will provide immediate relief and comfort to individuals and families in need. New or gently used donations are distributed to families who “shop” free of charge in our store and to neighbors served by 100+ organizations in our Partner Agency Network.

How You Can Participate

Our simple Giving Tuesday Wish List includes these items most needed by our community:

  • Men’s clothing for all seasons
  • Winter essentials like coats, scarves, hats, and gloves
  • School uniforms for children
  • Basic footwear, along with new socks and underwear
  • Bedding items such as comforters, sheets, blankets, and towels
  • Practical carriers like duffle bags and backpacks
  • Household goods including dishes, cups, and cookware

By donating any of these items, you’re not just giving a thing; you’re providing a sense of normalcy, dignity, and hope to neighbors facing challenging times.

The Bigger Picture

Giving Tuesday is more than a day, it’s a movement. It reminds us that every act of generosity, no matter how small, contributes to a larger web of compassion and community support.

When we come together, the ripples of our actions can create waves of change.

So, how can you be a part of this transformative day?

Start by viewing our full Giving Tuesday Wish List.

Choose how you want to contribute and know that your donation, whatever form it takes, makes a real difference.

If you’d rather contribute to Giving Tuesday by making a monetary donation then feel free to order our Holiday Cards and Inserts to honor your friends and families.

As you go about your day, take a moment to think about the impact your generosity can have.

In the spirit of giving, let’s come together to support those in need and turn this Giving Tuesday into a day of meaningful action and heartfelt generosity.

Congratulations to Sil Ganzó, from @ourbridgeforkids, for being named the 2025 Charlotte Woman of the Year!

At Crisis Assistance Ministry, we are honored to see her recognized alongside two leaders from our own history: founding CEO Caroline Love Myers and current CEO Carol Hardison who were both named Charlotte Woman of the Year.

All three women share a powerful common thread: they listen closely to neighbors who are often overlooked, create spaces where every family can belong, and turn urgent community needs into lasting change for Charlotte.

We are deeply honored to share this legacy and to celebrate Sil Ganzó as the 2025 Charlotte Woman of the Year.

Years after getting help to keep a roof over her kids’ heads, Jennifer now leads Wells Fargo volunteer teams in our Free Store. The same place that once helped her through a hard season is where she now shows up for other families.

Want to see why serving here means so much to her?

#WorldHealthDay, but make it spring cleaning. 🌱

Our Free Store helps neighbors find clothes, shoes, and everyday essentials—without spending a dime—so they can put more toward rent, meds, and keeping the lights on.

Freshen your closet, boost a family’s health. Want to see how the Free Store works and what we’re stocking this season?

Head to our bio to learn more and find out how your spring clean‑out can help fill the shelves. 💛

Name a better group activity than pulling up with @presenthelpmovement to inspect donations and stock shelves at @crisisassistmin. We’ll wait. 🙌🏽

These volunteers are making it easier for neighbors to find what they need—for free—at @crisisassistmin.

Got a group that wants to do some good together? Come volunteer with us. 💛 (Link in the usual place 😏)
