Life can change in the blink of an eye. One fateful day six years ago, Mary was hit head-on by a drunk driver. The aftermath of the crash left her with chronic pain and a mountain of medical bills. This new reality forced Mary to leave the workforce and apply for disability. With children at home and bills piling up, the disability check just wasn’t enough to help cover her basic needs.
Mary said, “I don’t like to ask people for money, because I am more of a giver.” It took a lot for her to come to Crisis Assistance Ministry for help with rent and utility bills, but she knew it was necessary for her family.
Thanks to donors like you, Mary and her children avoided eviction, kept their power and water flowing, and, most importantly, created a plan with our counselors to manage expenses in the future.
I want to get myself together to be able to help others the way I have been helped. I want to give back.
Mary
