Not so long ago I found myself in need of help to keep my family housed and my utilities on as I transitioned from one job to another. I was excited about my new career path, but my new pay schedule was further out than anticipated. I’m not a person who easily asks for help, but I had to do something. Nervous and a little bit scared, I reached out to Crisis Assistance Ministry—not knowing what to expect.
Thanks to community support, a caseworker talked with me about my situation, provided emergency rent payments to stop a pending eviction, and helped me connect to additional community-based services and resources. But just as important, she made me feel like I was going to get through this and come out on the other side.
This year, my family’s holidays will be filled with time together, a bit of giving back, and our favorite tradition: making homemade gifts for each other. But for many others in Charlotte-Mecklenburg, the holidays will be filled with stress and uncertainty. Like me, they will turn to Crisis Assistance Ministry, and you, for a little help to make it through.
You can help our neighbors enjoy the hope, warmth, and light of home this winter.
When you step into the gap for struggling families, you do more than keep the lights on—you strengthen our entire community. You restore the hope, warmth, and light of home to neighbors just like me so we can build a brighter future for ourselves.
On behalf of my family and all those who will seek help this season, thank you for your continued support of hardworking families right here in Charlotte-Mecklenburg.
